Bharuch

About

Bharuch district is intricately woven with the ingenious skill and proficiency of eras of history and echoes the design sensibilities of the civilizations which harbored on its port.

District of Bharuch or Broach lies on the southern part of the Gujarat Peninsula, on the bank of Sacred River Narmada. Due to its strategic location and ability to monitor river trade, Bharuch prospered and preened itself in a dance of architecturally vibrant havelis with splendid wooden facades. Peace and the serenity of the river brought with its styles of expression, from folk and tribal of the hinterland to the offerings of stone and wood to expand urban design consciousness. The metronome aalap of ‘Sujani’ weavers wove a preamble to the tinkle of dancing feet as young girls performed nritya to the song of Krishna and Meerabai, heart whelming sung by Pundit Omkarnath Thakur, in a divine celebration to the culture of thus hallowed land.
