An undulating green landscape punctuated by tracks of forest land has played host and inspired the culture of a native tribal population which converges in an explosion of grandeur at weekly haats or village fairs dotting the pristine country side of Dahod.
Dahod marks the eastern most border of Gujarat, overlooking neighboring Rajasthan on one hand and Madhya Pradesh on the other. The district's cultural development is influenced by its shared border with these two neighboring states. A forested landscape with a variety of flora and fauna offer motivation and inspire the local population in acts of creative intensity. Terracotta figurines, utensils and storage items, grace Rathwa and Bhil dwelling areas, while ritual gives way to profusion of wall paintings. Tribal jewelry is an eclectic mix of chunky silverware and white metal and delicacy of beadwork.
Dahods ethos is largely a confluence of influences exerted by its predominant Bhil and Rathwa tribal populations and its urban residential Dahodi Bohra community.
